Leaders Credit Union Adds New Certified Financial Counselors

JACKSON, Tenn. (January 29, 2025) – Leaders Credit Union, a member-owned financial cooperative in West Tenn., is proud to announce the addition of 60 financial champions as certified financial counselors. The financial champions who completed this certification range across all ten physical branches in West Tenn. and back-office departments such as the call center, mortgage services, business services, accounting and human resources.

The ACU (America's Credit Unions) Financial Counseling Certification Program(FiCEP) strives to further equip financial professionals with the skills and knowledge they need to help encourage members to make wise financial decisions. The program lasts over two months and includes a series of videos, thirty-three textbook chapters, and study guides each week.

In addition to the FiCEP curriculum, financial champions who participated in the program were given additional training from Jonathan Jones, who became a CCUFC in 2021 and has been Leaders' full-time financial counselor since 2023. Jones' familiarity with the program and professional insight helped participants understand how to apply what they learned through the textbook in their everyday jobs.

By introducing the subject matter to our financial champions, we are equipping them personally to help our members navigate more complex financial questions and concerns more acutely.
